Katie's passion for maternal and child health led her to midwifery after years of working on research and programs related to access to care for women and children across the world. Prior to entering the midwifery program she completed a degree in biomedical science at the University of Guelph and a Masters of Public Health in Epidemiology at the University of Toronto. She then worked as an epidemiologist and evaluator for nonprofit organizations in Kenya, Malawi and New York, but realized during this time that midwifery was her passion and applied to the Midwifery Education Program at McMaster University.
The most fulfilling part of midwifery for Katie is the connections she gets to make with clients as they navigate through the joys and challenges of building a family. She truly believes in supporting each client’s individual journey, and providing education so clients can make informed choices that are right for them. Having had midwifery care for the birth of her own son during the pandemic, she understands the value of personalized and compassionate care, and is honoured to be a part of such an exciting and meaningful time in your life. |
