Alison has been working with The Hamilton Midwives since 2015, first as a student, and then as a registered midwife once she earned her Bachelor of Health Sciences degree in Midwifery from Ryerson University in 2016.  She completed a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Waterloo in 2007, and earned a diploma in Massage and Hydrotherapy from Canadian Therapeutic College in 1999.  She travelled to over 70 countries working as an RMT onboard cruise ships for three years following her college graduation, and operated a private massage therapy practice in a multidisciplinary clinic locally for 11 years, prior to pursing her midwifery education.  During that time, she took a doula certification course and had her first daughter with the exceptional care of midwives.  Her second daughter was born into the hands of midwives during her second year in the midwifery program.  She has a special interest in pregnancies conceived with the help of fertility clinics and believes that autonomous, woman-centered care can strongly aid in normalizing pregnancy for those having utilized fertility treatment. In her spare time, Alison enjoys reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
