Susie decided to become a midwife after hearing her mother's stories of her 3 home births and how empowering the midwives were. With 5 daughters in the family, respect for women's choices in healthcare was a frequent topic of conversation and she wanted to add to the ranks of providers giving sensitive and uplifting care. Susie graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2001. After practising in England for 18 months, she moved back to Canada and worked in the Windsor, Ontario community for four years before joining The Hamilton Midwives in 2007. Susie enjoys mentoring midwives in their early career and having students work with her.  

In 2021, she obtained a masters degree in business administration from McMaster University. Her MBA has enhanced her practice on the leadership and administrative side of midwifery.

Around the clinic we know Susie as an energetic midwife who takes a straightforward approach in a way that helps women navigate their birth choices. Susie loves animals and nature, and enjoys travelling, reading, and spending time with her family.
